:: Such a great vibe, I can´t wait to hear more in the new year.
Since his first performance at Adelaide’s Lost City festival in February 2012, Oisima has rapidly gone from strength to strength. His instrumental, jazz, soul and hip hop infused ambient beats have earned the recognition and respect from musical communities from across the globe.
Oisima’s debut release, “From Dusk til Dawn” (May 2012, Herbede Records, Berlin) was very well received both locally and internationally. Coupled with extensive touring between Adelaide and the Australian east coast including the sold out EP launch in Adelaide, “From Dusk til Dawn” saw Oisima’s popularity within Australia grow immensely over a few short months. It was also around this time that Oisima shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the electronic beat scene; Ras G, Suff Daddy, Knxwledge, Mux Mool, Guerre / Nakagin, Oliver Tank plus many more.
Such rapid growth in popularity created high anticipation for the second release, “Goddess,” this time releasing on home-town label, Pilot Records (Adelaide). After sold out launch shows in Adelaide and Sydney, Goddess was immediately applauded by the ever-growing fan base and from the electronic production scene, with the likes of Chet Faker and Flume naming Oisima’s releases amongst the best in 2012. Praise from the media followed, with Oisima being named amongst Australia’s top 10 producers by stoneyroads.com, multiple Triple J features, a hoard of online and blog articles and the inclusion of tracks on compilation albums such as Beat Stew and Free The Beats, as well as earning an endorsement from Akai. Only weeks after that first gig, the Festival scene began calling. Beginning with small-scale Adelaide based festivals, Moving Music and Lost City; Oisima soon stepped up with appearances at Splendour In The Grass (NSW), Barrio (Adelaide Festival), Strawberry Fields (Vic), WOMADelaide (SA), PilotFest (SA), Melbourne Jazz Festival (Vic), Wide Open Spaces (NT) and more; before signing with the booking agency Niche Productions leading to the national support for Bonobo and support for Art vs. Science.
Having rapidly found success and praise from around the country, Oisima is gearing up for his first full length LP, Nicaragua Nights, in 2015. [Press Release]
