:: So good they’re back!
Dry the River have been a Music Pickings favourite right from our start in late summer 2011. The Stratford-based indie-rock band released their debut album Shallow Bed in March 2012, but it’s been rather quiet around them after. Last February, Dry the River announced that violinist William Harvey had left the band and that they would continue as a foursome. In June, the band ultimately announced Alarms In The Heart, their eagerly awaited sophomore album.
Alarms In The Heart drops officially worldwide (August 25, 2014) via Transgressive Records. In Germany, the LP already is available since August 22. The set of ten songs is available as digital download, CD and 12″ vinyl LP. You can buy the digital album from iTunes or order your physical copy of Alarms In The Heart from the Dry the River Shop.
Everlasting Light is the album’s second single. The music video for the song premiered on July 22 and it’s directed by Jake Dypka, watch it above. Upon the single/video release, Dry the Rive frontman Peter Liddle said of the song on their website:
“At the time Dry the River were in something of a wilderness, creatively and temporally. There were a lot of uncertainties surrounding the record – when it would be finished and how we would get there, who we wanted to work with in terms of our wider team. […] For me, Everlasting Light represents the path out of the wilderness – a kind of unlikely moment of clarity where we remembered what its like to be a band in a room.”
Gethsemane is the first track unveiled from Alarms In The Heart, watch the music video above. Most of the album was recorded during a sojourn of the band at rural Iceland with renowned producers Charlie Hugall, Peter Miles and Paul Savage in early 2013.
Dry the River are playing a string of UK shows in October and they will be touring North America together with Nathaniel Rateliff in late October/early November. You can check out the upcoming dates below and watch the Jake Dypka directed The Making Of Alarms In The Heart.
