Debut Album: Eaux – Plastics (2014/06/09) / New Track ‘The Light Falls Through Itself’

:: On Plastics, you’ll find the perfect blend of vigorous techno elements with a deep ambient atmosphere.

Hackney-based threesome Eaux is comprised of former Sian Alice Group member Sian Ahern, Stephen Warrington and Ben Crook. I discovered the band when they opened a concert for another act shortly after they had released their debut EP i on November 19, 2012 and I’m a big fan of their (sometimes otherworldly) music ever since. Back in April, Eaux announced their first album entitled Plastics alongside with releasing the first track off of it, and now the LP has arrived.

Plastics was released on June 09, 2014 via ATP Recordings. North American release will follow on July 08 via ATP. The album is available as digital download (mp3/wav/flac), CD and 12″ vinyl LP. You can buy/order your copy of Plastics in all versions from Bleep.

The album is streaming entirely over at Spotify. The set of nine tracks was recorded with and in the studio of producer Tom Morris. In a press release, Ben Crook talks the band’s analogue approach to music production: “There’s perhaps a reaction going on against a more digital-based way of doing things, but by having Sian playing drum machines and physically engaging with them, rather than just pressing play and stop it means there is always room for experimentation and improvisation.

Talking of her vocals, Sian Ahern explains: “This isn’t really intended to be pop music and we tried not to ‘over produce’ the vocals. They’re sunk in the mix to play the part of an instrument rather than a leading, storytelling role.

The Light Falls Through Itself is the second track that Eaux unveiled off their debut LP, listen to it above. Eaux are having a bunch of European tour and festival dates coming up throughout summer and autumn. You can check out the dates below and listen to the Plastics lead track Head.
