New Album: Passenger – Whispers (2014/06/08) [Full Album Stream] / New Single ‘Heart’s On Fire’ [Official Video]

:: Adorable album. Have been listening to it over and over again these past days.

Passenger alias Brighton-based Mike Rosenberg has gone a very long way to where he’s now, playing on the streets in cities all over the world. Last year’s wonderful single Let Her Go became a world hit and ultimately earned the indie-folk singer/songwriter the attention and appreciation he deserves. Passenger’s last album All The Little Lights was released about two years ago, and he has the follow-up ready and out by now. Rosenberg’s fifth studio album is entitled Whispers and you can listen to it in full over at Spotify.

Whispers was released in Australia, New Zealand and Europe (excl. UK) on June 06, 2014 via Embassy of Music / Black Crow Records. UK release followed on June 09 and North America sees release of Whispers today (June 10). The standard edition of the album is available as download and CD. Additionally, the deluxe edition of Whispers is available as download, double CD and double Gatefold Vinyl LP. Deluxe includes acoustic versions of seven album tracks. You can buy/order your copy of Whispers in all versions directly from Passenger’s website.

The set of ten original songs was once again produced by Passenger with Chris Vallejo with whom Passenger already had collaborated on his previous album. All songs are written by Mike Rosenberg except for 27 which was written collaboration with Australian singer/songwriter Josh Pyke. The album was recorded at Linear Studios in Sydney and Germano Studios in New York City.

In a recent interview with Radio.com, Passenger talked about Whispers: ” […] I think it’s the best thing I’ve done. I think the songwriting has come on quite a lot and the production is better on this record as well. You can expect quite a big sound. It’s got backing vocals, a string section, brass and quite a lot going on but hopefully not over-complicating the songs.” Asked for an narrative string on Whispers, he adds: “[…] it’s definitely got the sense of time, of people getting older. Growing up and growing old are themes that come in an out through the record.

Heart’s On Fire is the album’s lead single. The song comes with a beautiful official video directed, shot and edited by Jarrad Seng, watch the clip above. Passenger is already out on the road touring the world with his new album.
