New Album: Leon Vynehall – Music for the Uninvited (2014/03/17) [Full Album Stream]

:: I’ve been listening to this album over and over and over again the past weeks. A records that sounds like sunshine in your face feels. Absolutely lovin’ it!

Portsmouth-based producer electronic producer and dj Leon Vynehall is still relatively new on Europe’s electronic scene, releasing music since 2012, but he has nonetheless already made himself quite a name. With his new mini-album Music for the Uninvited, his second release for Martyn’s electronic imprint 3024, Vynehall proves this as well-earned and that there’s possibly a lot more to expect from him in the future.

Music for the Uninvited was released in the UK on March 17, 2014 via 3024. European release followed on March 24. The set is available as download and 2×12″ vinyl LP. The physical release is currently sold-out, but you can buy digitally via Beatport (mp3/flac/aiff) or pre-order your copy of the next pressing from Juno Records.

The set of seven tracks is still streaming over at SPIN. Head over and take a listen, I’m absolutely sure you won’t regret. In this post, you can check out above the slamming It’s Just (House of Dupree), my favourite track off this release. The quieter but no less greater album opener Inside the Deku Tree is streaming below, the video is created by the 29nov Films.

New Album: Efdemin – Decay (2014/03/28) [Full Album Stream] / New Single ‘The Meadow’ [Official Video]

:: Terrific album, from first track to last!

Berlin-based electronic producer and techno dj Phillip Sollmann aka Efdemin spent a three-month-long residency in Kyoto, Japan last year. Surrounded by an ethereal landscape of blue gleaming mountains, temples and a river, Sollmann produced the songs of his third full-length over the course of autumn – from the golden days of late summer till the cold of early winter. The album adresses decay in all its shapes, and Decay it is named.

Decay was released in Germany on March 28, 2014 via DIAL Records (distributed by Rough Trade). Europe sees official release of the album tomorrow (March 31). The album is available as download, CD and 2×12″ vinyl LP. You can buy digitally (mp3/flac/aiff) via Beatport or order your physical copy of Decay from Hardwax.

The album is streaming in its entirety over at German pop art magazine SPEX. Head on and take a listen, it’s strongly recommended!

The Meadow, one of my favourite tracks off Decay, is taken from it as single. The track comes with an official video consisting of video footages filmed by Phillip Sollmann and Hanna Schwarz in Kyoto and Wakayama. The clip is edited by Hanna Schwarz, watch/listen above. The album opener Some Kind Of Up & Down Yes is streaming below, the video is created by Toby Cornish and Phillip Sollmann.

Debut EP: Prides – The Seeds You Sow (2014/03/31)

:: A band with a voice – I like that!

Stewart (sings and plays keyboards) says, “The Seeds you Sow is about realising that the things that happen around you are a result of your own actions. It’s about realising that the one you’re with isn’t the one, and the consequences that go with it. We wanted to make sure that it was loud, brave, and would grab people as soon as they heard it. The vocal hook is all about letting go, losing yourself, shouting as loud as you can, caution to the wind.”

New Album: Dillon – The Unknown (2014/03/28) [Preview] / Single ‘A Matter Of Time’ [Official Video]

:: Slightly different, but recognisably Dillon. Frail and demanding, beautifully minimalistic songs!

Have you also been banned by the spell of Dillon’s deeply atmospheric live performance before? Ever since her 2011 debut and my first of her live shows I’m a big fan of the Brazilian-born pianist, indie electronic musician and chanteuse Dillon. It had become very quiet around her since she was working on her highly anticipated sophomore full-length, which has know finally arrived.

The Unknown was released in Germany yesterday (March 28, 2014) via BPitch Control. Official European release follows on March 31. The album is available as download, CD and 12″ vinyl LP. You can buy digitally on Beatport (mp3/wav/aiff) or order your physical copy directly from BPitch.

Dillon wrote the twelve songs of The Unknown between May and November 2013. Whereas music and arrangements on her debut This Silence Kills were mostly laid out before recording, The Unknown came about in another, conceptual approach. The foundation of the LP was recorded in three weeks time at Cloud Hill Recordings in Hamburg, and as This Silence Kills before, Dillon’s new album is produced by Thies Mynther (Phantom Ghost, Stella) and her stage collaborator Tamer Fahri Özgönenc. In a press note, Dillon comments: “I didn‘t see any sense in working with someone else. Back then we began a dialogue that, in my eyes, was never concluded.

In this context, Dillon’s second album can also be understood as sequel to her debut. But most importantly, she herself understands her work in a lyrical way:  “I wrote poems. For me these are all poems I‘m singing. The album is more like a book of spoken words and pictures than an album in the classical sense.

A Matter Of Time is the lead single off The Unknown. The song comes with an official video produced and directed by Robin Baum & Malo, watch it above. Dillon is already out on the road touring Europe with The Unknown. You can check out the upcoming dates below and listen to a preview of the entire album. You Cover Me was the first track unveiled off the Unknown. It’s also streaming above and can still be downloaded for free via the label Soundcloud.
