Title of Single: Breakfast Can Wait
Release Date: Feb 04, 2013
Label: NPG Records
:: Marvellous collection of songs. Never getting tired of.
Monday finally sees the official release of the eagerly expected first full-length of a young band that has caused some serious excitement among music fans and critics in the UK over the past year. Still, there’s not much known about the synth-pop outfit from Manchester, except for their first names: the threesome is comprised of Kelly and James (on beats/synths/production) and Victoria (on vocals). They’re not quite musical anybodies, the interest seems to be supposed to focus on music, not persons behind (which naturally forces curiosity on these three to a level even higher). Most strikingly, all titles are written in one word of capitol letters: NO CEREMONY///.
The first two singles – HURTLOVE and FEELSOLOW (listen below) – were nothing not fabulous, absorbing hymns. When asked for their debut full-length last July by The Line Of Best Fit, they announced it for the beginning of 2013. It’s a little delayed now, but this certainly raised the tension for the record to the roof – and the waiting is over now. No Ceremonny///’s debut is simply self-titled and it drops on Monday, September 02 via their own NOC/// label on which they also had released the singles before. The LP is exclusively streaming at The Line Of Best Fit. Head over and take a listen, its a great one!
PARTOFME will be the new single by the trio, it will drop in early October. Watch above the official video – directed, shot and edited by visual artist DEERHEADcx who has worked with NO CEREMONY/// for a couple of years now, doing visuals for some of their live shows. One of my album favourites is the more quiet track AWAYFROMHERE which features vocals by Irish singer/songwriter James Vincent McMorrow, listen to it in the album stream above. NO CEREMONY/// are heading out for their own UK tour amidst September, followed by a string of European shows. Check out the entire schedule below.

:: A love on first listen. A debut worth waiting for.
Sam Bentley, Christina Lacy, Dave Powys, Sam Rasmussen and Josh Bentley have finally done it. The Melbourne-based indie-folk quintet has amazed worldwide with the elegance of their music, released on several EP’s. So I was quite excited when they ultimately announced in June that their eagerly awaited full-length debut is coming this summer – and now the record has arrived, at least in some parts of the world. The first LP by The Paper Kites is entitled States, officially released in Australia and New Zealand today (August 30, 2013) via Wonderlick Recording Co. / Sony Music. European and US release dates are not yet scheduled, but I’m hoping for it soon. For now, the LP is at least streaming – worldwide and in its entirety – at theMusic.com.au. Head over and give this beauty a proper listen, and you’ll be falling for it as I am right now.
States is produced by The Paper Kites together with award-winning producer Wayne Connolly (Josh Pyke, Boy & Bear). The thirteen-track recording has been cut down from over 40 demos, recorded at Melbourne’s famous Sing Sing Studios and Alberts Studios in Sydney. Order your digital copy here and the physical record here. In June, The Paper Kites have announced a national tour of Australia on which they embark today. It’s directly followed by an extensive list of US shows in October and November, check out the schedule below.
Listen in this post to the States album sampler containing four of the new songs: the wonderful first single St Clarity and the new one Young (above), as well as the rock-heavy A Lesson From Mr Gray (a nod to poet Oscar Wilde) and the gentle ballad Cold Kind Hand (below). Following their fantastic 2011 EP Darkside, Nicolas Jaar and guitarist Dave Harrington have decided to continue their collaboration with a full-length. They’re now also using the Darkside title as project moniker. And a couple of days ago, they unveiled Golden Arrow, the first eleven minutes of the upcoming release. But not enough to that, the enthralling LP opening track is available for free download via the Darkside website. It’s also the first download of Jaar’s new venture Other People. The digital serial label will release one download each week, and this first taste of Darkside will be the only one for free. Afterwards, the regular downloads are exclusively available for members in return for 5 $/month or 50 $/year.
The video footage was filmed in Monticello, New York. The record was written and recorded at Other people Studios in New York, Studio de la Reine in Paris and at The Barn in Garrison, New York.
