Evan & The Brave is an indie-pop quartet from Sydney, Australia. The band received its name from the middle name of vocalist Daniel Mifsud and is completed by Ben Rodgers, Ross James and Yanya Boston. Their debut single Lil Monster caught them some attention last year, and now it’s time for a new tune. The new single is entitled Stay This Way and was released on May 03, 2013 via Mucho Bravado. It was recorded in Sydney with Tony Buchen at Albert’s / Studios 301, being the first taste of an upcoming short release due later this year. The stunning Dye the Water Green is my favourite track off of the upcoming new album by British electronic/experimental music producer Stephen James Wilkinson, more famously known under is moniker Bibio. The new record – already his seventh full-length offering – is entitled ‘Silver Wilksinson’. It was released in Australia on May 10, 2013 via Warp Records. North American release follows on May 14. The album is recorded and produced by Bibio himself – mostly in his own studio – and he also created the artwork for the record. On the label website, Bibio explains that he sometimes takes things outside while working on new music because the change of environment acts refreshing on the creative process. The recording of the album track À tout à l’heure for example started out in Bibio’s garden on a sunny day, and i think this shows. On his Facebook page, Bibio released a handwritten note about the creation of ‘Silver Wilkinson’, in which he also writes about my album favourite: “With the song ‘Dye The Water Green’ (my personal favourite off the album) I remember going into my brick-wall shed in the garden for a change of scenery and to capture the sound of rain on the tin roof, I remember recording additional musical ideas around a guitar riff I had previously come up with, capturing them to an old ghetto blaster. I remember feeling at the time that I wouldn’t have come up with the same things if I was in my studio. I think putting yourself in different environments affects how you feel and act and essentially can lead to more variety.” Read the full note here, and check out below the current first single You.

:: A brilliant set of tracks! Quite different to last year’s debut, better!
‘Silent Speech’ is the title of the new EP by Brooklyn’s dream-pop producer Mauro Remiddi aka Porcelain Raft. He released his debut album ‘Strange Weekend‘ in January 2012 via Secretly Canadian, and now it is time for some new music. Remiddi is currently working on his sophomore LP, and he wanted to ensure that it’s going to sound different, so he simply sold off all his instruments and bought a single modular synthesizer. The result of his self-recorded sessions to learn his ways with the new mod is now released in shape of the five-track instrumental electronic EP ‘Silent Speech’, digitally released via Porcelain Raft’s Soundcloud on May 01, 2013. He spent a month recording the set which he comments with the additional words: “Language is often a defense.“. The EP is streaming in its entirety above via Soundcloud where all five songs can be downloaded for free separately.

COMA – that’s Marius Bubat and Georg Conrad from Cologne, Germany. The duo signed to renown Cologne label Kompakt plays and produces electronic music – having released various singles and EP’s in the past years. My Orbit is the first official single taken from their anticipated debut full-length. The record is entitled ‘In Technicolor’ and was released on April 29, 2013 via Kompakt. It’s available as CD, vinyl LP and digital download. ‘In Technicolor’ is streaming in its entirety over at Spin, head over to have a full listen.
My Orbit was released as 12″ vinyl and digital download on March 25, featuring remixes from Clouds and Dauwd. Check out below the video for Hoooooray, the first album track that was published as digital teaser single in January. The Phoenix Foundation are an indie-rock six-piece from New Zealand’s capital Wellington. The band is comprised of Samuel Flynn Scott [vocals/guitar], Luke Buda [voacls/guitar/keys], Conrad Wedde [guitar/keys], Tom Callwood [bass], Will Ricketts [percussion] and Chris O’Connor [drums]. Wedde, Scott and Buda founded the band in 1997 when they were students at Wellington High School, the first EP followed in 2000. Thirteen years on, the band already is releasing their fifth record full-length. Entitled ‘Fandango’, the album dropped in New Zealand and Australia on April 26, 2013 via Universal Music. UK/European release followed on April 29 via Memphis Industries. North American release is now scheduled for May 15.

April is the title of the new (third) single by Sunderland’s Martin Longstaff, the indie-folk singer and songwriter who’s making honest acoustic music – sometimes with his friends – under the moniker The Lake Poets. The new single was released on April 29, 2013 via Tiny Lights Recordings on CD, 7″ vinyl and digital download. The release is available at The Lake Poets’ Bandcamp as well as on iTunes, Amazon and more. It includes the beautiful b-side With Me. Listen to the song below, and download it for free via The Lake Poets’ Soundcloud. The official video for April is directed by Gavin Randall of Melting Point Media, watch it above.
April was recorded at Newcastle’s Blast Studios in January 2013. It’s written by Martin Longstaff and produced by Mick Ross & James Mottershead. The strings are composed and arranged by Longstaff & Ross. With Me was recorded in one take at The Tower Studio in January 2013. It’s also written and fully performed by Longstaff (acoustic and electric guitar, vocals & screwdriver), James Mottershead produced and engineered the song.

Megalomania is the first single taken from the upcoming debut full-length by Bolivian-born electronic pop singer/songwriter David Lemaître. His studies took him to Europe where he was exposed to many different cultural and musical influences. Lemaître, now Berlin-based – released his debut EP ‘Valediction’ in 2010 and has been working on his full-length offering in the past year. The record entitled ‘Latitude’ is officially released tomorrow (April 19, 2013 ) via PIAS Recordings (in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands and Belgium). The record will drop in France on June 03. David is currently touring in Europe, supporting Agnes Obel on her Belgium tour and playing his own solo shows thereafter. Update: David Lemaître has released an official video for Megalomania. The Trip is the opener of the sophomore offering by London’s dream-pop band Still Corners, the musical project of songwriter / producer Greg Hughes and vocalist Tessa Murray. The new record is entitled ‘Strange Pleasures’ and will be released in The UK and Europe on May 06, 2013 via Sub Pop. North-American release follows on May 07. :: A terrific piece of music I stumbled upon. The Bunny Suit Launch is strongly recommended if you’re in Berlin tonight!
The Way is the marvellous debut release of Berlin-based alternative rock four-piece Bunny Suit. The band behind singer and songwriter Cameron Laing [vocals/piano] is comprised of Phil Walker [guitar], Guillaume Cambon [bass] and Gidon Carmel [drums], completed by Alex Samawicz [trumpet] and Thomas Robrahn [acoustic guitar] for live performances. Bunny Suit was born on a London houseboat converted into a recording studio, and the band has gathered quite a lot experience in performing live – having played everything from small clubs to big-selling venues under their original name Quixote. After moving to Berlin, they decided to relaunch the band under a new name: Bunny Suit. You can download their debut The Way for free via the band’s Soundcloud - and you shouldn’t hesitate if you’re asking me.
Bunny Suit are going to play their band launch party tonight, in Berlin at Grüner Salon der Volksbühne. They will be supported by This Could Be Yours, Rooftop Runners, Big Nose. In A Sense is the first track taken from the upcoming third album by Young Man. The indie-pop five-piece behind Chicago-based singer and songwriter Colin Caulfield is comprised of Emmett Conway [guitar/vocals], Joe Bailey [bass], Jeff Graupner [synths] and Darien Williams [drums] – it had started out as the solo-project of Caulfield who recorded songs in his college dorm bedroom and evolved into a full-grown bands afterwards. Their new album is entitled ‘Beyond Was All Around Me’ and will be released in North America on April 09, 2013 via Frenchkiss Records. Caulfield recently announced that it’s going be the last Young Man record and that he’ll move on to another project moniker since the Young Man trilogy is completed with this new offering. :: Impossible to tell how often I listened to this one in the last days. It’s an anthem!
Fenech-Soler is an electronic pop four-piece from King’s Cliffe (Peterborough) in the English Midlands. The band history eventually began in 2006 when Ben Duffy [vocals/synths], his brother Ross Duffy [guitar/synths/vocals] and their schoolmate Daniel Soler [bass/synths] met Andrew Lindsay [drums] while recording. The band name originates from the full (Maltese) surname of Daniel Fenech-Soler. They released their self-titled debut album in 2010 to critical acclaim. The band underwent hard times after vocalist Ben Duffy was diagnosed with cancer in May 2011. Luckily he was soon fully recovered after chemotherapy and Fenech-Soler immediately returned to an ambitious festival season and soon started working on new music. The band dropped the first teaser to this outcome a couple of days ago: the marvellous Maiyu is the first song taken from Fenech-Soler’s yet untitled sophomore effort which is due later this year. The song can be downloaded for free here.
